Earlier this week, the Macmillan Information and Support Centre at Darlington Memorial Hospital re-opened following a refurbishment.
Staff, patients and volunteers gathered to celebrate the transformation of the centre, made possible through a generous grant from Macmillan Cancer Support. The refreshed space offers a welcoming environment where people affected by cancer can access vital information, guidance, and emotional support.
Chief Executive Steve Russell was joined by Susan Remillard, Macmillan Information Services Facilitator and members of the CDDFT Cancer Services Team, to cut the ribbon and mark the official opening. Steve met with staff, volunteers and patients to see firsthand the impact of their dedication and compassion.
During the ceremony, Susan was presented with flowers by the team in recognition of her outstanding contribution to the project. She thanked everyone involved, highlighting the team’s collaboration and commitment in creating such an uplifting and supportive space for patients and families.
The Macmillan Information and Support Centre's at Darlington Memorial Hospital, University Hospital of North Durham, and Bishop Auckland Hospital are open Monday to Friday, 9am–4pm. Everyone is welcome to drop in, see the improvements, and find out more about the range of support available.
