A new Discharge Lounge has opened on Ward 10 at Bishop Auckland Hospital from Monday 17 November, supporting patient flow and helping to ease winter pressures across the Trust.
The dedicated space will operate from 8:30am to 5:00pm and has capacity for four seated patients as well as one patient in a bed.
The lounge will provide a comfortable, safe environment for patients who are ready to leave hospital but are waiting for transport, medication, or final arrangements to be completed.
To ensure smooth transfers, patients moving to the Discharge Lounge will require their discharge letter and medication to be prepared in advance.
The introduction of the Discharge Lounge forms part of ongoing work to improve patient experience, enhance efficiency, and support the timely flow of patients throughout the hospital, particularly during the busy winter period.
