Patients, visitors and colleagues travelling to University Hospital of North Durham (UHND) can now access live bus departure information, following the installation of new digital screens at the hospital.

The screens, located at the main entrance and Emergency Department, provide real-time public transport information to help people plan their journeys and make it easier to travel to and from the hospital by bus.

The screen in the Emergency Department displays buses departing in three minutes or more, while the screen at the main entrance shows services departing in six minutes or more. This gives people time to make their way to the bus stop before their bus departs.

The new displays have been delivered in partnership with Durham County Council, with support from the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority (NEMSA).

The project supports the Trust's Green Plan by encouraging more sustainable travel choices and making public transport a more convenient option for people visiting UHND.

Having clear, accessible information about bus services can also help reduce health inequalities by supporting patients and visitors who rely on public transport to attend appointments, access care and visit loved ones.

The new screens are part of ongoing work to make travelling to Trust sites easier and more sustainable.

We would like to thank Durham County Council and the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority for their support in delivering this initiative.
