From Monday 9 March 2026, phased works will begin at Darlington Memorial Hospital (DMH) to introduce a new parking system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR). The project will be delivered in stages to help minimise disruption.

During construction

  • Parking will remain open
  • Please continue to park in marked patient and visitor areas
  • Continue to purchase tickets from the machines
  • Temporary signage will be in place where needed

What will change?

Once the new system goes live:

  • There will be no paper tickets
  • Visitor parking will all be in one location
  • Visitor parking will be one way flow; visitor entry will remain the same with exit at the other side of the car park
  • Cameras will read your vehicle registration on entry and exit
  • You will pay at a machine before leaving by entering your vehicle registration number
  • Clear signage and on-site support will be available
