The Darlington Community Stop Smoking Support Team spent the day at Darlington Memorial Hospital on Tuesday 21 October, supporting this year’s Stoptober campaign.

The team were on hand throughout the day to chat with staff, patients, and visitors about the benefits of quitting smoking, offering expert advice, encouragement, and carbon monoxide (CO) readings to those thinking about making a positive change.

Although this year’s session focused specifically on supporting smokers and carrying out CO readings, there was fantastic engagement across the hospital.

Activity summary:

  • Smokers supported: 24

  • Vapes provided: 16

  • Breakdown: 15 staff, 4 patients, 5 visitors

Quitting smoking is one of the best decisions you can make for your health – and it’s never too late to start.
