We are delighted to celebrate the launch of our new Transfer for Training Course, which is being delivered for the first time at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust.
The course has taken place across the region supported by the North of England Critical Care Network for a number of years, but in early September a team of ITU staff came together to host it for the first time within the trust.
An essential training course designed for staff involved in the transfer of critically ill patients, the programme provides the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to undertake transfers safely and confidently.
Participants have the opportunity to develop their understanding of the clinical, operational, and safety considerations involved in patient transport, alongside valuable hands-on training with the critical care transfer trolley and equipment.
This exciting initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to supporting staff development, enhancing patient safety, and ensuring the highest standards of care during patient transfers.
The hope over the next two years is to build to hosting three courses per year that will be open to staff from Critical Care and emergency departments from around the region.
