About your pre-operative assessment

If you are booked to have a gynecological procedure under general anesthetic or sedation, you may have had a preoperative assessment. The specialist nurse assessed your medical fitness for surgery and completed all relevant tests. In this section you'll find useful information you may need leading up to your surgery and to help you recover well.

If you have been given any preoperative drinks or bowel prep, make sure you keep the instructions safe. Some patients have a few weeks between their pre-op assessment and surgery; you may not remember the verbal instructions that were given at the time.
