Our friendly staff and volunteers are here to help you get the information and support you need, when you need it.
We know that coping with cancer can be hard. We will try to make it a little easier for you.
Each centre offers a drop-in service. We also have quiet rooms where you can talk in private.
We can help you with many things, including:
- Different types of cancer
- Cancer treatment
- Cancer awareness and prevention
- Money and benefits advice
- Local support groups
- Contact details for charities
- Healthy living, such as food, exercise, and stopping smoking
We also offer a headwear service and bra clinics at:
Anyone affected by cancer, or anyone who wants to learn more, can visit or call us. We can also help you find trusted information online or connect you with other services.

How to access our services
Our Macmillan Information and Support Centres are open for face to face support from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday. We can also provide support over the phone or by email. We have three Centres, which are located at:
- Bishop Auckland Hospital (in the outpatients department)
- Darlington Memorial Hospital (inside the main entrance)
- University Hospital of North Durham (in the outpatients department)
We also have information points at Chester Le Street and Shotley Bridge Community Hospitals.
