Volunteer with us

We are looking for volunteers to join our Macmillan Information Centres. Volunteers are an important part of the support we offer to people affected by cancer in County Durham and Darlington.

Why volunteer?

Volunteers make a real difference. You can help people get the support and information they need.

What you could be part of

As a volunteer, you may:

  • Give a warm welcome to visitors who may be worried or upset
  • Be a friendly voice on the phone
  • Take time to listen and offer support
  • Help people find the right information and services
  • Ring people to check they can attend appointments
  • Support simple office tasks that help the service run well
  • Share information about our services on hospital wards

Training and support

You do not need experience of cancer care. Full training will be provided, and you will get ongoing support from our team.

Just 2 hours a week can make a big difference to people affected by cancer.

If you are friendly and want to help others, we would love to hear from you.
